Graduation weekend

This weekend, the Dixon Hotel hosted our friends Mark and Robin Stevens and their kids Sam and Katie. They are living in Bay St. Louis and were in town to see Mark's sister Amy graduate. I am kicking myself for not taking any pictures of the kids, because they were so adorable the whole time. Grady left for a canoe trip down the Big Black River on Friday afternoon with Bryan Bridges and it has been raining almost all weekend. Sounds like they still had a pretty good time, even though at one point they were bailing 2 gallons of rainwater out of the canoe every hour. Dave Brommer came over to Starkville to visit family that was in town for MSU baseball. He took Delia and I out to dinner at the Veranda Saturday night - yum! Delia was so good - she just sat at the table and looked around. This morning we went to church and the nursery ladies couldn't wait to get their hands on her! After church, we ran to Piggly Wiggly for a few things and she slept in her car seat in the buggy. She woke up the last few minutes we were there and again, just observed while we checked out, loaded the car up, got gas, and drove home. Good girl! She has been waking up at 4:00am almost every night for the past week, though. She's usually not too fussy and just seems to want to hang out. Hopefully it is a phase that she will outgrow soon... like tonight.

Weekend Out

On Saturday we went to the 10th Annual Nolan Crawfish Boil at Chuck & Sarah Nolan's house in Brandon. Pretty small-time - they only cooked 750 lbs. of crawfish.

While Delia visited with her great-grandmothers on Sunday, Grady and Amanda rode around Vicksburg to see the flood waters. The river is at the highest it has been in 30 years. This is a picture of the flood wall being closed up. As you can see, the boat is riding high!

On Our Own

Daddy is in Boston all this week at a Geography conference. Here is what I have been up to...

Went to church in a cute outfit,

bundled up in my hoodie and went for a stroll with the dogs,

watched my ceiling fan,

watched my mommy,

made faces for mommy,

got a bath,

and that's all!

12 Weeks Old

Sometimes if Delia gets up too early, we'll put her in our bed for that last hour of morning sleep.

I hear my mommy trying to wake me up!

She loves to lie on our bed and watch our ceiling fan. She smiles, laughs, and "talks" to it!

That fan is AMAZING.

Delia started day care last week. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to leave her, but I did OK. When she was at the office, I couldn't give her or my business my full attention, and that wasn't good for anyone. The day care is at our church and it is 2 blocks away from my office. I can walk there if I want to! Some days I go feed her at lunch so I don't have to go all day without seeing her. I am jealous that other women get to take care of her from 9 to 5, but I think it is going to work for us.

Play Date!

A week or two ago, I took Delia over to meet Jack, our friends Craig & Amy's baby boy. Jack showed Delia how he can do push ups on his quilt. Delia tried it, but ended up just lying on her face wiggling. That's OK girl! Jack is 4 weeks ahead of you!

Our Toys Runneth Over

I wish I could post pictures of all the gifts that Delia has received, but it would be a never ending job! So many sweet people have sent her so many wonderful things. Our dining room and living room looked like Christmas Day for over a month with piles of baby clothes and toys heaped on top of everything. Everyone has been so generous - I think the only things we have had to buy for Delia were a pacifier clip and some baby clothes hangers. There was one surprise that came in the mail one day that I will share. Our friend Ann from Florida sent not only goodies for Delia, but also fun toys for Buddy and Miller!
