Jennifer and Wes had their sweet baby boy last week, but since they are lazy about updating their blog, here are some pics I swiped off their Facebook page.

4th of July Weekend
For the long weekend, we drove up to the Charlotte, NC area to visit my friend Anna, her hubbie Matt, and their new (oops - already 6 months old!!) baby, Julianna. Anna and Matt took us to a good old fashioned 4th of July parade in Waxhaw, SC.
Waiting for the parade to start. Anna's nieces were very sweet and shared their chairs and toys with Delia. Matt had brought his truck to the parade route to stake out our spot early that morning. Some people had staked their claim the night before! We began to think this might be a big deal...
Delia was not wild about the loud stuff - fire engines and police sirens - but she was entertained by everything else.
funny hats,
old cars,
uh, Shriners on go carts (??)...
and even Uncle Sam!
Even though the parade was precious and small-town, there were a TON of people lining the streets.
After the parade, Matt's sister and her family invited us back to their house for a cookout with ribs and all the fixins! Delia had a good time playing with the girls and their big playhouse/swingset.
They even let Delia borrow a bikini so she could play in their little pool. Does anyone know where we can get a wading pool this late in the summer? WalMart and Lowe's have put them up already.
After we finished off some homemade Oreo ice cream, we headed back into Waxhaw for their fireworks show. Who knew Waxhaw was such a happening place?? There were families in folding chairs and on blankets everywhere.
Delia was a little spooked by the loud fireworks at first, but by the end of the show, she was clapping for them.
These are our fun friends Lynna and Jesse that we met in Arizona. I used to work with Jess at Blufish AZ. Now he has a sweet design job where he can work from home, and Lynna is at the top of her class in law school at UNC Charlotte. They invited us to another cookout at Lynna's brother's house. This just happened to be the last night of our summer gypsy dinner tour: Grady and I realized that we had eaten 6 home-cooked dinners in a row, none of which were cooked by us.
They had extra long sparklers that wouldn't burn your fingers, so Delia tried out a few and liked them!Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Weekend at Wesley's
Grady's sister Jennifer is counting down the days until Baby #2, Cameron arrives. We drove up to Southaven for a quick visit the weekend before 4th of July.
Since it was SO hot, we went to the Botanic Garden because it had some water features that we thought would keep the kids cooled off.
Climbing around and exploring.
Princess even got in the water!
Wesley in a canoe, wearing a shirt that he made himself!

Beach Pictures Part II
I only took my camera down to the beach one other time, and that was on our last day. We were a little worried about Delia not liking the sand and therefore having nothing to do all day, but she loved it!
She liked digging, scooping, dumping, and raking. She even poured the sand on herself and rubbed it all over her legs! Very un-princesslike!
She would be so worn out after a morning at the beach, that she would sleep for 3-4 hours after lunch every day. We had to wake her up to go get more beach time, play, play, play, then go in for a late dinner.
Delia is so pale, we slathered her w/60 SPF baby sunscreen, put a hat on her, then put up an umbrella just for her to play under.
Pretty empty beaches with all the oil in the news.
Ladies and gentlemen, these are tar balls. If you step on them (or see one in the water and try to pick it up with your toes because you think it is a seashell - doh!) they will stick to your foot. When you try to wipe it off, it turns to orange-brown grease.
The water was beautiful and clear up to the morning of the last day of our trip (June 12, 2010), then Grady came out of the water and said "It's here." There was a distinct odor in the air and a sheen on the water. The day before, the boys went to our favorite seafood market to get tuna steaks to cook on the grill that night. The employee said "This is the last of the fresh stuff. Tomorrow everything will be frozen." Tragic. Gross. Thanks BP for ruining a little bit of the WORLD.
But we had a fine time without the water. And each of The Beach Club's 4 or 5 high rises had it's own pool, so there was always room for us. Delia and I made a small army of baby sea turtles with her sand molds. The first time I made one, she tried to pick it up.
Counting turtles.
