More from October

Why the blog marathon? Grady and I are going on a big trip on Thursday, and I want to be caught up to real time by then so I can update this site throughout our trip. Almost there!!

We started using a sippy cup! And outgrew all of our 12 month clothes.

Brooks and buddy Sims on game day.

We tried our first craft from Pinterest.com, a super fun website that is like a bulletin board where you can keep all of your favorite internet ideas and see your friends' favorite things.

Delia and I filled skinny pretzel bags with marshmallows for a cheapo treat for the kids in her class.

Brooks learned to sit himself up, and takes longer to go to sleep now. Sometimes he'll just bend in half and fall asleep like that.

Delia got her third haircut (ever) at 3.5 years.

At this particular weekend morning breakfast, she was being a chicken,

while Brooks ate his bananas.

Back to being sweet.

I chaperoned Delia's trip to the pumpkin patch in Caledonia. It was about 90 degrees, but we all had a good time. This is Delia and her friends Jenna and Ella on the hay ride.

These kids have SO much energy. I don't know how their teachers keep up with them all day every day. They are special people. L to R: Ella, Ethan, Delia, Carey Beth, McCoy, Maddox, Jacob, Troy and Jenna.

Playing in the corn box. Like a sand box, but with corn. Delia came out of there with corn in her shoes, and other places.

There were tractors to play on,

a giant horse made our of corn shucks (or something like that),

swings, a cotton trailer, and hay to climb on. Have I mentioned that Delia likes ham?

What a pose! Where does this come from??

The kids each got to pick out a pumpkin to take home.

Way more fun than picking up a pumpkin at WalMart!

It rained on the school's Trunk or Treat day, so we held it inside. I had a table decorated w/pumpkins and fake leaves. Each station would normally be the trunk of a car. I forgot Brook's dragon pants. Sorry. Mommy brain was full.

Brooks & Sims. BFF.

Instead of a paci, Brooks comforts himself by sucking on his bottom lip and holding anything soft, like his "lovey," blankie, dish towel, whatever. Here Brooks is sleepy and trying to snuggle on Sim's costume.

Finally Sims just gave up.

Delia's class, complete with 3 Spidermen!

This is the only picture from the real Oct. 31 Halloween. Brooks did not last very long going house to house.

October - a Few Firsts

In October, Brooks started eating finger food on his own! He is about 10.5 months here.

Look at all those teeth! He also started crawling on Oct. 1, and tried to go straight out the front door!

He went to his first MSU football game and it was unseasonably hot. I slathered both kids w/60 sunscreen, then hovered over them like a mama hen trying to shade them.

After the game - passed out - but not sunburned!

Brooks loves to watch our dog Miller walk around outside and then beat on the glass door panes. He likes to beat on anything and everything. The louder the better!

Delia got to dress up several times for Halloween, one of which was our church's Harvest Festival. This year she was the mermaid Ariel.

It was way too hot for Brook's fleece dragon outfit, so he just went in his monster jammies.

Pumpkin carving!
Bouncers were a new addition to this year's festival.

You can't tell, but Brooks was about to pull the entire backdrop down. Grady calls him our little "meathead."

The next opportunity for costumes was Pumpkinpalooza in downtown Starkville. This is Delia's friend Amelia dressed as Dorothy.

This is Jane Kimmel, one of our friends from church, who happens to be a Buford!

This is Brooks' best friend from his class, Sims.

What a princess!

And in October Grady and I saw B.B. King for the first time! He played on campus on a Tuesday night! He is 86!

Our seats weren't this close, I just walked up to the stage with a bunch of folks after the show. Hearing "The Thrill is Gone" live was pret-ty unbelievable.

Phone pics from August

Trying to get this blog caught up to real time and keep all these pictures in order, but I found some on my fancy phone last night that I forgot about. Here's more fun stuff we did in August!

Brooks started pulling up on stuff!

I conquered my fear of homemade cinnamon rolls and Delia helped! See the Pioneer Woman's super yummy recipe here.

Any occasion is appropriate for a crown at our house.

Followed the recipe even down to the maple icing. GOOD. VERY GOOD.

As long as we can get a car buggy, taking both kids to the grocery store is no big deal. It's actually kind of fun. No car buggy available? Then we go next door to Lowe's and snag one of theirs. Brooks' favorite thing in the store is the shiny balloons in the floral department.

Sweet sister.

This adorable outfit came from our dear friend Tricia! The front says "Baby Express" and the back...

Too cute! Thank you Tricia!!
