GO DAWGS! 41-27 over Ole Miss!

This Saturday morning we went to a Breakfast with Santa as part of a Festival of Trees fundraiser for the United Way. The big party and live auction was a week or so ago and Grady kept Delia and let me get dressed up and go to the fancy pants event. It was really fun with great wine and food (BBQ duck quesadilla anyone?), and the Breakfast with Santa was one of the events that took place in the week that followed.

Different businesses decorated trees and put merchandise (or signed MSU jerseys or hunting trips) under the trees to be auctioned off. All of the trees were beautiful and some went for over $2,000 at the auction!

This is the Mississippi State baseball tree. There was also a basketball tree and a football tree (4 tickets to the Egg Bowl under the latter).

Local schools donated gingerbread houses for the auction and I brought home two because they were made by little kids, no one had bid on them yet, and they were super cheap. These are not them, but I will have some pictures of them soon. We know most of the organizers of the festival and we heard that there was a mouse problem in the building this week. I can just see all those mice partying in the Gingerbread Village! Woo hoo! Candy Land! We have checked our houses for nibble marks, but haven't found any yet...

Garage Sale Saturday

Moms - during this poopy economy, a garage sale is a fun, super cheap way to entertain your kid. Some of our neighbors are moving and they had a HUGE garage sale last Saturday. The weather was great, so we strolled on down there. Delia got to meet some new people, see some dogs, play with toys, and when I finally rounded her up to leave, she could take whatever she wanted and it was less than $3. Delia does not have a black eye here, just a bug bite or something that had gone down by the time we got home.

They had 3 little school desks, but I didn't think we needed one just yet.

I don't know what Delia is looking at here, but it cracks me up. When an airplane flies over, she says "Airplane!" Then when it is gone, she says "Where airplane go?"

I found a nice hardcover Blue Dog art book there that was in mint condition in its original slip case, so I got it. George Rodrigue is a New Orleans artist who has become famous for painting these blue dogs. This book is one of his first books and is simply titled "Blue Dog." I just looked up the hardcover edition on Amazon and the cheapest one is $57. The rest are $100-$150. I just opened up the book to see if it is a first edition and it is SIGNED by both authors! Found a "slightly soiled" signed edition on alibris.com for $136. I paid $1! SUCKAS!!

Trip to Charlotte

Last weekend, Amanda and I flew to Charlotte to throw Anna a baby shower! We traveled on Thursday, had a great lunch w/fantastic margaritas in the ATL airport, and stayed with Mama and Daddy Thursday night. Friday, we all met up with Anna and were treated to a fancy lunch at 131 Main. It was soooo good. Then we went shopping!

Friday night we had dinner at The Bonefish. Also soooo good.

Mama had already gotten a lot done in the weeks leading up to the shower, so we made one last grocery run Saturday morning, then set everything up. There were cream puffs, petit fours, chocolate cannolis... yum!

Let's eat! Anna's sister is a pilot and she has her captain's uniform on here because she had to fly out right after the shower!

Anna is due Dec. 27. Where is her belly??

After the shower, we changed clothes to go on one last shopping trip before dinner: "What?? We can't go out like this??" (Hey! There's that little baby belly!)

I don't know who took this action shot of me cleaning up, but this is the only picture I got of Daddy!! How did we not get a picture with the girls?? And where is Mama? Anna - if you have some pictures, send them to me please, and I will send you all of mine!

A Few More Halloween pics

Amelia came over to play on Halloween and the girls got ready for a Halloween party together. Amelia would not wear anything that resembled a costume, so her parents found these skeleton pajamas. Don't feel bad Carmen - Delia finally decided she loved her Raggedy Ann bonnet w/the red yarn hair and wore it for a while today (Nov. 15).

"Whatever dudes. I've got my woobie and this stick - who needs candy?"

The party was at our friend Klancie's house. Klancie has 5 children and still has energy to throw a party for our church's young adult group's kids. In return, Silas's brother threw up on the food table and gave 4 of her 5 kids a stomach bug. Delia had just gotten up from a nap and was still sort of in a daze for most of the party...

Since her house is a lot like camp, Klancie has tons of great ideas, like paper-covered tables to color on!

Play Date with Amelia

We let Amelia and her dad John come over and play Saturday so Amelia's mom could recover from 2 night shifts at the hospital and prepare for a 3rd! We got a tip from a neighbor that there is a playhouse with a mailbox, hardwood floors, and a ceiling fan just 2 doors down from us, so we went to check it out.

And here it is - mailbox and all!

Our neighbor built it for his granddaughters, but they are not in town very often. He said it took him a year to build and another year to trim it out.

It looked just like a real house on the inside!

It had a dining table,

a stove, a fridge, baby bed, and a piano!

And nicer accessories than our real house! And it was cleaner!

There were also steps going up to a slide and the girls went up and down over and over. Sometimes going down the slide, sometimes just going back down the stairs.

After playing for a good while and getting pretty muddy, we went back to our house for lunch.

It was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed the sunshine!
