Homecoming / Baby Shower / Oct 24 Weekend

Backtracking a few weeks, Homecoming weekend was a blast. The Hotel Dixon slept 8 adults, 2 toddlers, and 2 babies! A new record! Jennifer and I stayed home with Delia, Wesley, and Baby Cameron, but we had a great time watching the game together. We were even able to run out our front door and catch the jumbo jet flyover on its way to the stadium!

After all of our guests headed out, Mama and Daddy came up on Sunday so Mama could go to a baby shower thrown by my some of my sweet friends.

Carmen is so creative and craftsy. She painted these pumpkins and got the leaves right out of her yard! The candles are baby food jars filled with candy corns!

We had originally planned on Delia going to dinner with Grady and Daddy, but when Mama and I started getting ready, Delia said (in a pitiful voice), "Where y'all going?" I said "To a party." She replied (SO pitiful) "I wanna go with the girls!"

So, of course, we put her in a dress and let her come with us. She had a great time.

Look at all the fun ladies that showed up! It was in the upstairs room of The Grill, a newly renovated restaurant in a former Eagle canned milk plant. 7pm, so also a good girls night out!

We played a pumpkin trivia game, and everyone's favorite baby shower game, "How big is the pregnant lady, really??"

Go Dawgs! Best season since 1999, or something like that.

Amelia came up at the end of the party with the daddies to help clean up and load up the baby loot. It was a great party!

In baby news, I have been having contractions for 9 days now and (stop now if you don't like pregnant lady details) am already at 2cm, which is farther along than I was when I went into the hospital to have Delia! Waiting.............

Happy Halloween!

A few weeks ago, our church had a Harvest Festival out at the church's lake property and we got to try out our costumes. Delia borrowed a great Sleeping Beauty costume, with new crown courtesy of Grandma 'Manda. I took a few pictures before we left the house and that was all I could get. Again, camera too heavy. Squatting down to eye level with munchkins and then getting back up again - too hard. But... thanks to my friend Carmen sharing all of her pictures, I have plenty to share!

This past Friday night, we went Downtown for Pumpkinpalooza! Trick or Treating on Main Street, pumpkin patch, farmers market, etc. I wanted to buy mums and pumpkins and pumpkin bread, but all those things were too heavy to carry. Especially since I'd started having contractions the night before. (They stopped.)

There were some great decorations...

and live mannequins, which totally freaked Delia out the first time we made one of them giggle.

We saw tons of friends in costume, but only snagged this one picture of Joseph. Go Dawgs! 7 WINS!

Did not get any pictures of actual trick or treating on Halloween because Delia wore the same outfit... and the camera was too heavy. We had fun though!

Blufish recently helped our local hospital and fire departments publicize an event to welcome a fleet of pink fire trucks that tour the country "driving" cancer awareness. They made only one stop in Mississippi, and that was Starkville. Read more about them on their site: http://www.pinkfiretrucks.org/

There were lots of goodies, like pink fireman helmets, pink balloons, and face painting.

Blufish Design 5th Anniversary

We celebrated Blufish's 5th Anniversary with an Open House in September. Even the boss from our Phoenix office came and took advantage of a big SEC football weekend: MSU v. Georgia. I didn't get too many pictures... after a full day of party prepping, the camera was too heavy.

Bumper to Bumper

Some of my student interns - they are all great! Sara, Jennifer, and Mark. Mark just had a "Fro-ing Away Party" and cut all that hair off.

Delia never lets me do her hair in pigtails anymore. Last month she did and I was so excited, we ran outside and took pictures.

Pumpkin Patch

This Saturday, we caravaned with some friends to a pumpkin patch in Caledonia, about 40 minutes away. It was unseasonably hot this weekend, so we didn't stay very long. A hayride in full sun when it is 90 degrees is not as fun as if it were, say, 60 degrees, so we skipped that.

We did have fun picking out pumpkins, squash, and gourds of all shapes and sizes.

Delia's plan was to get "a Mama pumpkin, a Daddy pumpkin, and a baby pumpkin. And one for Baby Brooks." She started out with this one, which was just her size.

You can tell how long we have been without rain by the brown crunchy grass!
